Welcome to World Link! Play the video below
to see what some of our Students have to say.

World Link's programs are scholarship based cross-cultural exchange programs that involve more than being visitors from another country. The World Link Enhancement Program adds activities to your international academic experience that will help to train you as the "successor generation" for your home country and ensure you have the personal skills and experiences for career success. Your "year in America" is a chance to experience new things, new lifestyles, new ideas, a new culture and the "real America". As a result, you will be a "Global Citizen" with your feet planted in multiple cultures and with it an increased understanding and appreciation of the interconnectedness of the world. It is these "enhancements" or activities that you will carry home with you that will come to be your most valuable possessions that your brought from your exchange program. Here is an outline of World Link's Enhancement Plan.

Major Enhancement Objectives:

1) Leadership Training:
Leadership is a person that has a vision for change and the ability to motivate others to see and implement the vision. Through your involvement in a school club and through World Link training activities, you will learn what leadership skills you have and how best to utilize them. You will develop and practice valuable leadership skills like public speaking, debate, and organizing others using new media.

2) Community Service: Aiding those in your community that are disadvantaged or conducting activities that improve your community is one of the primary responsibilities of a citizen of a civil society. Governments cannot deal with all issues and problems. World Link will expose you to the value of service to your community and train you in organizing these activities in your home country with your peers. Through programs like "Global Connections", World Link will encourage you to link up with alumni in your home country to organize projects that reach across borders to help effect positive change through youth involvement in community service.

3) Cross-Cultural Education: Exchanges allow for the sharing of ideas and creates a better understanding leading to improved friendship and cooperation. Americans need to know about your countries and your native culture. Through cultural presentations about your country and culture, you will play a valuable role in educating Americans about the world outside the USA and help to improve international understanding. When you return home, sharing your American experiences also can help to improve understanding and relationships.

Additional Enhancement Objectives:

a) Appreciation and Tolerance of Diversity: Strong societies embrace their diversity and the USA is a unique place to experience the push and pull of diversity tolerance since so many cultures came together to form the United States of America. World Link will involve you in a Mid-Term Diversity Immersion exercise that will lead to a Melting Pot Essay Competition where you will write about your experiences with diversity in the USA and application of these experiences to your home country.

b) Exposure to the Free Market System: A strong entrepreneurship system and the freedom to start and build small businesses is the framework of the free market economy. Through classes in school and projects with school based leadership clubs, you will experience the power of the free market system and how it pilots the economy in times of strength and weakness.

c) Exposure to the Balance of Power in a US Style Democracy: Corruption is one of the main factors globally limiting many nations from experiencing the economic growth that the USA has experienced. Through exposure to the three branches of government and the checks and balances that help to limit corruption and provide equal opportunity to all is the hallmark a of US style of democracy. Participants will be exposed to our government system to understand the design, but also experience the attitude that makes a democracy truly representative of the people.

Involvement in enhancement activities will help to make you a "local star" and will open doors of opportunity for you, make friends and increase your experience base. World Link and your host school will provide you with opportunities for enhancements, but it is up to you to participate. World Link provides motivational awards and incentives to encourage you to participate in enhancement activities.

The World Link Enhancement Plan is designed to produce strong alumni. When you return home, you will have the opportunity to be involved in alumni activities and events that will allow you to share your program experiences, implement new ideas and be an "agent of change" in your own school, community and country.
World Link welcomes you.
