Host families play a very important role in helping the US become better understood around the world. World Link, in cooperation with the U.S. Department of State, Division of Educational and Cultural Affairs, is conducting two programs that will help provide a better understanding of the United States to the successor generation in the countries of Eurasia (former Soviet Union) and Afghanistan.

Host families are required to provide:

• A nurturing, family environment
• Three meals a day
• Provide the student their own bed

Host families are not paid for hosting a student, however, the students on the FLEX and YES programs do receive monthly stipends, health and accident insurance, and allowances for school expenses, clothing and extra curricular activities.
